[International] Our startups at the Mobile World Congress : Smartviser

The tech startup from Rennes returns to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona: an interview with Karine Corre, communication and marketing manager.

Smartviser, a Brittany-based startup created in 2014, offers an innovative user testing solution for mobile data terminals. Their app works by simulating usage scenarios in order to measure key indicators such as loading time, bit rate and battery level.

Why did you decide to take part in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona? What are you expecting to get out of it?

At Smartviser, we develop solutions for telecoms companies including operators, benchmarkers and manufacturers – experts from all around the world, in other words! That’s why MWC is one of the most important events of the year for us. Because professionals come to Spain from across the globe, it’s the perfect place to do business, see our customers and also meet prospects who might need our solutions.

You choose to take part in an overseas event so that you can meet customers. Does being based in Rennes make it harder for you to roll out internationally?

Wherever your base, there are always specific logistics to manage when you want to develop overseas. At Smartviser, we decided to set up operations in key countries, namely the US, Mexico, Finland, the UK, India and Romania, among others. This helps us identify new prospects and develop good relationships with our customers all over the world.

Do you feel more similarity or difference between the different regions at the trade fairs you’ve attended?

At trade fairs, everyone is pretty much in their own bubble. But the Brittany-based start-ups are actually very cohesive, we’re all very open! We swap tips and we often chat about our experiences or things we’ve seen.

Have you had any specific financial assistance from regional organizations to attend this event?

Bretagne Commerce International has been incredibly helpful. We’re on the Business France stand in Barcelona, but it’s the BCI who sorted out our trip over here in terms of registration and managing our stand, for example. They are a vital financial partner in our international development.
